DD Free Dish is the only free Direct-to-Home (DTH) service provided by Doordarshan. If you also want to enjoy TV channels by DD Free Dish without any subscription, you have to set up the signal on your dish antenna and receiver.
In this blog, we will tell you about this DD Free Dish signal installation in detail.
Free DTH Required Equipment Needed -
- Before starting, make sure you have the following equipment -
- DD Free Dish Receiver (Set-Top Box)
- Dish Antenna (Compatible with DD Free Dish)
- Low Noise Blocker (LNB) and Bracket
- Coaxial Cable
- Satellite Signal Finder (Optional)
Step 1: Install Dish Antenna -
Install the dish antenna in an area with a clear view of the 93.5 degrees east sky, as the TV signals of DD Free Dish are transmitted from the GSAT-15 satellite located at 93.5 degrees east.
Mount the dish antenna securely on a sturdy structure, such as a wall or roof, using the provided mounting hardware.
Set the dish antenna's elevation to 93.5 degrees for your location. You can find the elevation angle for the antenna using an online satellite finder app or tool.

Step 2: Connect the LNB and coaxial cable -
Attach the LNB to the LNB bracket of the dish antenna, making sure it is securely attached.
Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the output port of the LNB.
Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the input port of the receiver.
Step 3: Set the signal of the dish antenna -
If you have a satellite signal finder, connect it to the receiver and use it to find the most accurate signal.
Set the azimuth of the dish antenna by slowly moving it left and right until you get the most accurate signal.
Adjust the height of the dish antenna to adjust the signal strength.
Step 4: Configure the Receiver -
Turn it on and wait for it to boot up.
Go to the receiver's menu and select the GSAT-15 satellite (93.5°E).
Here set the frequency through the frequency list for DD Free Dish (e.g., 11090 MHz).
Save all other frequencies in the same way, the list of frequencies will be found here.
Save the settings.
Step 5: Scan for Channels -
Now access the menu of your DD Free Dish receiver and go to the satellite list, select the GSAT-15 satellite (93.5°E), and choose the "Channel Scan" or "Auto Scan" option through the blue button on the remote.
The receiver will scan for available channels and save them in its memory.
Minor Troubleshooting Tips -
- In case of channel sticking or freezing, check the dish antenna alignment, LNB skew, and coaxial cable connection.
- In case of no signal or encrypted signal, make sure the receiver is set to the correct satellite, frequency, and symbol rate.
- Rescan for no channel or check the channel frequency and symbol rate.
