Recent progress has been made in the expansion of TV channels under the PM e-Vidya scheme. Details of these channels can be found in the TV channels currently running under the PM e-Vidya scheme. Earlier, 34 educational TV channels that carried the MHRD program on DD Freedish were taken off the platform and shortly will be available in MPEG-4 quality.
However, PM e-Vidya TV channel slots have been increased on DD Freedish. Initially, PM e-Vidya was developed with only one TV channel covering classes one to twelve. Now PM e-Vidya channels are available from channel number 81 to channel number 200. This means that earlier there were 12 slots, but now there are 40 slots. These TV channels cater to the needs of various states in the country, offering specific curricula for places like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, etc. PM e-Vidya channels are also being launched for other states.
Another update is the removal of TV channels by the MHRD, which focused on higher education. It is possible that these TV channels will be available in MPEG-4 mode from 7th June 2023.
