11 March 2017: The government in 2017 has decided to use cartoons based on Indian culture, mythology, and ethos to curb the cultural onslaught. So the public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is soon going to launch the DD Kids TV channel.

The efforts are on to locate and procure creative local content in the proposed DD KIDS television channel which will not only attract children but also teenagers. Sahoo said that it is important that children should not be treated as an object to attract advertisements as is happening in some private cartoons/kids TV channels.
Many families still haven't installed DD Free Dish due to the non-availability of 24-hour cartoon TV channels on the platform. So Doordarshan will fill this gap in the form of the DD Kids TV channel.

DD KIDS will provide Animation Cartoons, Kids Value Education Stories to the kids 24 hours a day, also DD KIDS will help in promoting the value and culture of India which is getting lost day by day due to the interference of western culture.

Yes, this channel will be available on other digital platforms like DTH (Dish TV, Dish d2h, Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct, Zing Digital, and Tata Sky), Cable TV (Digital, Siti Cable, Hathway, etc.), and Jio. TV, Airtel Extreme and Hotstar. No subscription fee will be charged for this channel.
When will the DD KIDS TV channel launch?
The DD Kids channel will be available very soon, as announced in 2017, but the project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
