10 October 2024 - In a move that has left millions of Assamese language TV viewers disappointed, Popular TV, a prominent Assamese TV channel, has ceased its broadcast on DD Free Dish, India's leading free-to-air direct-to-home (DTH) service. This sudden departure has sparked concerns among viewers.

Popular TV, owned by the Assam-based media conglomerate, A M Television Pvt. Ltd., has been a staple of Assamese entertainment and news for over a decade. 

The exact reasons for Popular TV's departure from DD Free Dish are unclear.
