India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Prasar Bharati signs MoU with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, Ministry of Electronics & IT, to launch 51 DTH Education TV channels available as DD co-branded channels to all DD FreeDish viewers.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Prasar Bharati and Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology aims to bring quality educational programs to every household, including those in rural and remote areas, the government said in a statement.
In this MoU, 51 DTH education TV channels comprising of Swaymprabha (33 channels) (M/o Education) [SwayamPrabha provide 33 high-quality education channels. The channel streamlines curriculum-based course content].
e-Vidya for classes 1 to 12 (12 channels) of NCERT. [The Government launched one class one channel, which means a dedicated TV channel for each class for live online classes and tutions].
Vande Gujarat (Government of Gujarat) (16 channels).[The Government of Gujarat launched educational TV channels in the language of Gujarati], and DigiShala under M/o Electronics and IT (1 channel) [It is a TV channel launched by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to promote cashless digital transactions].
So currently available total education TV channels are in DD Free dish - Swaymprabha (33 TV channels) + e-Vidya (12 channels) + Vande Gujarat (16 channels) + digishala (1 Channel) = Total 33+12+16+1 = 62
The services will be available free of cost for all the viewers of DD Free dish, in line with the government’s commitment towards skill development and providing quality education to the last person in the country, the statement said.
“This government initiative will go a long way in achieving the Government’s goal of providing education to all,” the statement also said.
